Online Alterations
We’re excited to offer online alterations for selected bottoms.
Please read carefully before placing your order.
- Altered items cannot be returned or exchanged.
- Online alterations are available only for selected bottoms. If the option does not appear, the item is not eligible.
- This service only shortens the length of bottoms. Tapering is not included.
- Orders with alterations require an additional 2 business days to be prepared for dispatch.
- Select the colour, waist size, and original length of the item.
- Choose your preferred stitch type from the dropdown menu.
- Select the final inseam length you want the item shortened to.
If alterations are available, the “ALTERATIONS” option will appear beneath the size selection tool.
The stitch options shown depend on the fabric and design of the product. If a stitch does not appear in the dropdown menu, it is not available for that item.
Important
- The original hem will be removed and the fabric cut before a new hem is created.
- While we aim to closely match the original finish, thread colour and appearance may vary slightly.
Visible (Lock) Stitch
- A standard stitch visible on both the inside and outside.
- Suitable for most casual bottoms.
- Distressed items may lose distressing on the hemmed section.
Hidden (Blind) Stitch
- Nearly invisible stitching for a clean, tailored look.
- Recommended for dressy pants such as smart or ankle-length styles.
- Not available for jeans or thick materials.
- Measure a pair of similar bottoms you already own.
- Measure from the centre of the inseam (crotch) down to where you want the hem to finish.
- Select this measurement as your alteration length when ordering.
Example: If you select 31 inches, the inseam will be shortened so the measurement from crotch to hem is 31 inches.
Visible (Normal) Stitch
- Bottoms £19.90 and above: Free
- Bottoms under £19.90: £3.00
Blind (Invisible) Stitch
- £3.00
Alteration fees are non-refundable.

Q. What is the returns policy for altered items?
Altered garments cannot be refunded or exchanged. If you have concerns about how your item was altered, please contact Customer Care with your order details.

Q. How do I remove an alteration before checkout?
Remove the item from your cart using the “X”, then re-add it without selecting an alteration. Orders already placed can only be cancelled within 30 minutes.

Q. What if there is an issue with the alteration or length?
If you have any concerns with how your item was altered, please contact Customer Care for assistance.

Q. Will my online order be altered in-store?
No. Online alterations are completed by our warehouse team. Items ordered online cannot be sent to stores for alteration.

Q. Can I have my bottoms altered after delivery?
Yes. If you didn’t select an alteration online, you may take your item to a UNIQLO store with proof of purchase. Eligibility and fees may vary.

Q. How long do alterations take?
Online alterations require an additional 2 business days before shipping.

Q. Can I send items to you to be altered?
No. Online alterations are only available at the time of purchase. We cannot accept items sent to our warehouse for alteration.

Q. Can you redo an alteration if the measurement is wrong?
No. Online alterations cannot be redone or lengthened. Further shortening may be requested in-store at an additional cost.
