Wool Coats Care Guide

We always hope that our favourite clothing can be kept in a perfect state for a long time. In this section, we introduce to you how to maintain a woolen coat easily at home, as well as tips on how to keep it durable!

Before following the next care instructions, we recommend checking the product care label. For outerwear, the care label can be found sewn inside the left pocket.

Cleaning:

  • Do not wash, dry clean only!

Easy daily maintenance:

  • Try to always store it on a thick hanger, to maintain shape.
  • If there is dust or dirt on the coat, you can use a clothes brush to clean it. Starting from the top to bottom, along the collar to the shoulders and arms. Brush lightly from bottom to top as if against the surface fibers of the clothes to let the dust fall off where special treatment is required. Excessive cleaning may damage the texture of the coat

Removing the pilling/bobbling:

Areas prone to friction such as shoulders, cuffs, and waist are more prone to pilling. Instead of leaving it alone, it's better to clean up the pilling as soon as possible:

  • Using scissors: Instead of using your fingertips to pull out the hair ball which will pull the material of the clothes and cause damage, we recommend using a narrow tip scissors. Lay the surface flat and carefully cut off the fluff, without cutting the fabric.
  • It is also recommended to use a pilling remover. Put the coat on a flat surface, press the coat softly and gently go over the pilling part. Sometimes, the bobbles are too small to be picked up.

Fluffy Fleece Care Guide

Before following the next care instructions, we recommend checking the product care label. For outerwear, the care label can be found sewn inside the left pocket.

To care for UNIQLO’s fluffy fleece, be careful not to use excessive heat or friction during the washing and cleaning process as it will melt the tiny fibers and cause matting. Be sure to occasionally comb through the fleece’s nap using a clothing brush should the fabric become flatten.

  1. General care: Regularly spot clean using a damp cloth and comb through the fleece nap using a fabric brush to raise the fluffiness and loft of the fabric. Shedding of fluff may occur. Avoid rubbing from bags or belts, excessive friction can exacerbate pilling or matting. Use a fabric shaver to remove pills or carefully trim with scissors.
  2. Washing instructions: Generally, machine wash cold on gentle cycle is recommended. Use a cleaning net, wash separately and inside-out. Do not bleach or use detergent that contains optical brighteners. Do not dry clean.
  3. Do not iron. Reshape the garment while damp. Drip dry completely or dry in a low temperature environment.

Down and Warm Padded Care Guide

Before following the next care instructions, we recommend checking the product care label. For outerwear, the care label can be found sewn inside the left pocket.

To prolong the life of your beloved down jacket, we suggest making a habit of airing your outerwear piece, using a damp cloth to wipe away dirt and occasionally spraying it with fabric freshener. In general, down outerwear does not need to be washed so often as frequent washing causes the down to lose its fluffiness.

If feathers are coming out, do not pull it out forcibly. You need to pull it back in by pulling it from the inside. If you pull it out forcibly, the hole will become larger, and the down will easily blow out.

Please note, the care method differs depending on the product. Please follow the instructions on the item care label.

Ultra Light Down and Recycled Down

  1. Washing instructions: Prepare water with a neutral detergent in a wash tub, and gently wash it with water. Then rinse with clean water 2-3 times to ensure no detergent remains. If detergent remains on the fabric, it may cause stains or changes to the texture. For dirtier areas such as the neck and cuffs, use a sponge or cloth with detergent to gently tap it (spot cleaning). Avoid using a washing machine or dryer as there is a risk of damage when using a conventional machine.
  2. Drying: Drip dry completely in the shade. If using a tumble dryer, turn the item inside out and tumble dry at a low temperature. Add 3 or more clean tennis balls to the tumble dryer and let the cycle run until your jacket has completely dried. Pause to shake the jacket occasionally, as you want the down to spread equally throughout. The jacket is ready to wear when it's completely dry and has a fresh smell.

Hand wash gently in cold water, use a ph-neutral liquid detergent and avoid rubbing or soaking the item in water for long periods of time. 2. Drying: Wrap the garment in a towel to remove excess moisture. Drip dry completely in the shade or dry at a low temperature. If water remains, it may cause odor, so be sure to dry it thoroughly before storing.
